Welcome to the home of the Bergen Catholic Ice Hockey Alumni.  Our mission is to share our interest in the hockey program and lend our support.

Great Scrimmages to Start the Season — The results of the first two scrimmages bodes well for the season— a 9-1 showing against Princeton Day and then a 1-1 tie with dominating offensive pressure against Chatham.

The Varsity broke a sweat for 35 minutes against the alumni on Friday. Now the games start showing up in the won-loss column. Scrimmages are fine but now it’s down to business.

Rocky Start to the Season — There are no easy games in the Gordon Division—no league for old men.

Seton Hall  at Codey Arena  Sunday  11-20      The Pirates put up three first period goals in route to a 6-2 final score.

Delbarton  at Aspen Ice  Tuesday 11-27     The Green Wave washed over the BC after the Crusaders played them even for most of the first period. The four-goal middle frame was too much and the final score was 6-0. Tough to meet the defending champions so early in the season.

CBA   at the Ice House    Friday   11/30   The first home game resulted in a 5-2 loss to the Colts in friendly confines. A 3-goal second period settled the uncertain 2-1 first period CBA lead.

The Hun School  3:00 at the Ice House  Monday  12/3  Not a Gordon  Division game. The Raiders’ Brian Nelson scored early and often — five goals in a 6-2 onslaught. Nelson seemed to be everywhere and easily stood out in a “what just happened” game. He was fast, so fast.

Next Up on the Early Schedule

St. Peter’s Tuesday  12-11  4:30  Barnabus Health (the rink next to the Rock in Newark)

Hockey Book Update —  I was planning to go to print before Christmas but now I’m having to spent hours on the microfilm at the Ridgewood library to recreate several years’ seasons. Missing is information details from 89-90, 90-91, 96-97, and 97-98.

For each season that I have to perform journalistic forensics, I have to put in 3-4 hours. The best day for that is Wednesday and I’m running out of Wednesdays. So it looked like going to print mid-February. I thought that I might as well wait until mid-March and get the current season (Chapter 51) in the book.

Book Website —  When I get enough information together for the book website, I’ll include the link here. I might do some simple things like post the table of contents and parts of some of the interesting appendices. Every moment I spend there tales away from the time I could spend finishing the narrative.

Right now my literary agent wants to plan her campaign to shop my novel manuscript to different publishing houses. Fortunately, she is patient and will to wait until I finish this hockey history. The plot is rock and roll and revolution, set in China. I will spam you later.
